Diethyl Phthalate ia a diethyl ester of phthalic acid. DEP is colourless, transparent oily liquid having slight aromatic odour, which is soluble in most of organic solvents and insoluble in water.
IGPL produces Maleic Anhydride through wash water generated out of the production process of PAN. Maleic Anhydride is used in agro and food businesses. IGPL also manufactures Benzoic Acid (BA) as a by-product.

Phthalic Anhydride (PAN) is used in manufacturing plasticizers, which are most essential in making PVC products, shoe soles, cables, pipes and hoses, leather cloth, films for packaging and other products. It is also used to manufacture alkyd resins used in paints and in the production of unsaturated polyester resins for building materials, plastic products, textile industries and printing inks.

DEP is used as a plasticizer in consumer goods, including plastic packaging films, in cosmetics formulation, solvent for fragrances, a surface lubricant in food and pharmaceutical packaging, and in tube used for medical purpose.
It is also used as alcohol denaturant, agarbatti (incense sticks) and as fixative in manufacture of perfumes, processing of Cellulose Acetate for manufacturing of varnishes and paints, solid rocket propellants, insecticides and mosquito repellents, as a camphor substitute, as a solvent for nitro cellulose, in oling of textile fabrics, in paper varnishes, floor covering.
